Honor the Landscape

Day two in my studio produced something I’m more excited about than oranges! I started with a relaxing, free flow (bottom image) based on a photo I took from a paddle board in Lake Michigan in September. I felt the flow with this one so I kept going.

The power was out, so I worked from window light until there was none. Three or four hours later and I had to step away from the top image, these layers and hues make my heart bounce! This piece made me realize how much I want to honor the landscape in my work. As soon as I stepped back from this piece I said to myself, brush in hand, “I’m going to make so many more of these!!”
