Brevity + Beauty

My series of minimalist landscapes began in 2014. I have photographed locations all over the US while traveling and living nomadically.
This series is an ongoing study on vastness and insignificance. These images express the belief that the beauty of our earth is limitless and monumental but in the simplicity of the scenes I choose often layered in texture and tone, they are ambiguous and nondescript — a metaphor for what I believe we feel as humans: we can feel as though our independent existence is meaningful, limitless and monumental in the world but in the grand scheme we are also ordinary and one of many. These landscapes represent us, each they are to the earth what the individual is to a population: brief, common yet profound and beautiful.
